Yoga (/ˈjoʊɡə/; Sanskrit: योग)
a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines that originated in ancient India.
There are a broad variety of yoga schools, practices, and goals. The term “Yoga” in the Western world often denotes a modern form of hatha yoga and yoga as exercise, consisting largely of postures or asanas.
Karate (/kəˈrɑːti/; Kanji: 空手)
is a martial art developed from the indigenous Ryukyuan martial arts (called te (手), “hand”; tii in Okinawan) under the influence of other martial arts.
The word karate is a combination of two kanji (Chinese characters): kara, meaning empty, and te, meaning hand; thus, karate means “empty hand.” Adding the suffix “-dō” (pronounced “daw”), meaning “the way/path,” karate-dō, implies karate as a total way of life.
